Danny Callahan
Director of Education and Research​ (MS3)

Danny is a third medical student at Dell Medical School at The University of Texas at Austin. He brings a strong foundation in physiologic sciences and global health, having earned his bachelor’s degree at Northwestern University and later completing a master’s degree in physiology and biophysics at Georgetown University. His academic journey has also included international study at Sciences Po in Paris, where he focused on public health in Europe, broadening his perspective on global healthcare systems and equity.

Alongside his education, Daniel has gained extensive experience in clinical, research, and public health settings. He has worked as a medical assistant in orthopedics, conducted research at institutions such as the National Institute on Drug Abuse and Lifebridge Health in Baltimore, and served as a program assistant with USAID, mobilizing humanitarian aid during health crises. His research contributions span neuroscience, orthopedics, and LGBTQ+ health, with publications in peer-reviewed journals and presentations at national and international conferences, including the Journal of Arthroplasty and AIDS and Behavior. Most recently, he was awarded a grant from UT Austin’s Center for Sexuality and Gender Minorities Research to examine the impact of radical prostatectomy on the sexual health of gay and bisexual men.

​Beyond his academic and professional achievements, Daniel is deeply committed to leadership and advocacy within medicine. He serves as President of the Queer Medical Association at Dell Medical School, Co-President of Making Equity Standard in Healthcare, and Education and Research Director at the CD Doyle Free Clinic, where he promotes health equity, community engagement, and inclusive healthcare practices. Planning on apply to Urology residency, Danny is committed to Urologic advocacy, conducting research at several institutions this upcoming year in transgender urologic surgery, penile implants, and queer health.
