Official Statement: Spring 2021 Application Cycle
As many of you know, the C.D. Doyle Clinic was forced to shut down in light of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Over the past several months the leadership team has been working tirelessly to reopen the clinic; however, after much thought and consideration, we have decided to forego this year’s Spring 2021 undergraduate cohort cycle. As the clinic begins to finally reopen and we transition into a new clinic structure, the demands of our undergraduate program has changed. As a result, there will be no application cycle this upcoming winter. We hope to conduct our next application cycle during Spring 2021 for the summer and fall seasons. Any and all updates will be made to our website and respective social media sites. If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to the Undergraduate Director, Priyanka Ranchod at cddoylevolunteer@gmail.com. Thank you for your interest in our clinic, we look forward to meeting you in future cohort applications.

Requirements
We take attendance and commitment very seriously. If selected, we require that all volunteers attend at least 1 clinic per month. You must be available to volunteer Sundays from 1:30 PM - 5:30 PM. Additionally, all volunteers are required to participate in at least 1 outreach project per semester, which takes place on a day of your choosing. Lastly, one training session is required each semester to keep everyone's knowledge up-to-date.

Clinic Volunteering Roles
As a clinical volunteer, you will have 4 primary roles at clinic: triage, patient registration, intake, and pharmacy. A volunteer performing triage greets patients as they come in and records their chief complaints. The volunteers working registration then check patients into our EHR system. Next, the intake volunteers interview patients, take their History of Present Illness, vital signs, and finally, present that information to the medical students. At the pharmacy, volunteers  dispense medications and record inventory as needed.

Additionally, social services volunteers provide resources for patients such as referrals, basic care, MAP information, and so much more.

You may ask, "Why do I have to apply to volunteer? Can't I just show up and help?"
At C.D. Doyle Clinic, we take seriously our responsibility to provide excellent care to all of our clients. We have a limited number of positions available because there are a limited number of jobs to do at clinic. When we have too many volunteers at clinic with nothing to do, it slows us down and wastes your precious time. If not selected, we encourage you to re-apply as spots open up every year!

Our application process is divided into 2 parts:
  1. Fill out an application and submit it before the deadline
  2. If selected, applicants will then be invited to attend a 30-minute interview to give clinic officers the opportunity to get to know you and determine whether volunteering at C.D. Doyle would be a good fit for you.
After being selected, students will be required to attend an in-depth orientation on taking vital signs, performing core duties, and providing basic social services information.
