Dr. Kelly moved to Austin in 2023 after completing her medical education, residency training, and early career in coastal Virginia, where she first discovered her passion for community medicine.
As a medical student at Eastern Virginia Medical School, Dr. Kelly was a founding board member of the student-run HOPES Free Clinic and continued volunteering there throughout medical school, residency, and as a teaching attending. Those years shaped her understanding of what it means to deliver care that is both excellent and equitable. The patients that Dr. Kelly met in that setting faced unique challenges, and were uninsured, navigating systemic barriers, and yet joyful and resilient. They taught her as much about medicine as any classroom or lecture.
For Dr. Kelly, volunteering with the C.D. Doyle Clinic feels like a natural continuation of that work and a return to the roots of why she became a Family Physician. Dr. Kelly is drawn to the mission of providing high-quality care to Austin’s most vulnerable populations while also mentoring students learning to do the same. It’s an opportunity to merge two of her greatest professional joys: caring for those most in need and helping train the next generation of compassionate physicians.
